In the last month I’ve looked for a home in Seattle, found one, placed a bid on it, closed on it and finally moved into it. Long process, but worth it in the end. The experience was complete with the obligatory period of having to eat and sleep on the floor while waiting for furniture to be delivered.

Here are some pictures of my condo in Queen Anne. The interior pictures were taken by the previous owner.

Tried out a new local place for lunch today: Malay Satay Hut. Its biggest selling point, in my opinion, was the online menu, avec les images. All menus, online or offline should have pictures. There needs to be a law about it already.

I tried the spicy chicken with peanuts. Not spicy enough, but still a good alternative to everyday cafeteria food. At least it had flavor.

Attended the first lecture of a three part series on “Van Gogh to Mondrian” at the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) last night. Extremely eye opening. My favorite painting in the many shown during the lecture was this one:

Wheat fields with crows (1890) by Vincent Van Gogh

I’m really looking forward to the other two lectures now.

PBS has a very interesting documentary on Einstein’s wife, Mileva Maric Einstein. It seems she was deliberately erased from his life story. She may have also had a hand in collaborating on his work, yet being an object of his contempt and abuse.

“Albert has a new lover, his cousin, Elsa Löwenthal. On his 34th birthday, he gets a card from Elsa. That evening, Mileva is absent from a party. The next day, worried friends call on Mileva. Her face is bruised and swollen.”
