The Louvre pyramids at night

Louvre

It was the only chance to see the outside without a mess of people getting in the way.

Trip to Romania

Photo album from my trip to Moldavia in April 2007 – finally up on flickr. I love the new and improved slideshow too.

Here’s a preview:

Underrated TV shows that are better than anything else out there

There’s plenty of hype about Lost and The Sopranos, but here’s a list of TV series that are better than great and you may have missed out on.

  1. The Shield
  2. Arrested Development
  3. Veronica Mars

Comcast lagging behind with HDTV channels

DirectTV just announced a large set of HDTV channels including SciFi, Food Network and FX. Comcast Seattle is really dragging its feet. All I get is the local channels and Discovery in HD. Maybe its time for a switch?

Price drop notifications for your Amazon.com wish list items

I loved the concept of amabuddy, but it never actually notified me when prices dropped for books on my Amazon.com wishlist. It has now been renamed to ringfo and they promise new features in the “coming months”. In the meantime, here’s a new service that actually works:

Took a little bit of fiddling to get WishRadar to pick up the right wishlist, and the site is sluggish, but I really like the ability to provide a global price thresholds. For example tell me if a book drops in price below a dollar. Notifications via email and RSS. Very cool.

Like.com – visual search

Very rarely am I impressed with new search engines. Like.com deserves a special mention. Try this search for “chronograph with leather strap” to see what I mean.

Meebo: web based instant messenger

My favorite instant messenger in a browser has just launched new updates. The most noticable is the face-lift. See more details on the meebo blog.

Neverwinter Nights 2 released

It’s finally out. And just in time too since I finished Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and don’t feel much like returning to Gothic 3. Will check it out today.

Want to read: Wild Fire

Eagerly awaiting the release of Wild Fire by Nelson DeMille. It’s ’s fourth novel in the series.

Playing Dark Messiah of Might & Magic

I’m definitely showing my age when I admit I’ve played Might & Magic parts III to VIII on the PC. So I didn’t think twice about getting my hands on Dark Messiah of Might & Magic. I hadn’t followed any of the previews and the typical hype so I’d been expecting this to be a hard core RPG. It wasn’t. But surprisingly enough, that was a good thing. Full review to follow, but suffice it to say I’m completely hooked.

Scrybe beta opens today

Scrybe – a next generation organizer, personal information manager and online calendar has started its beta program. I’ve seen the video and I’ve seen early versions of the calendar and related features. It’s definitely a poke in the eye for existing solutions by google et. al. Full review later. In the meantime you can keep an eye on the scrybe blog.
